3.1.2 Security box

The security box is located behind panel elements. Inside you can find the compressor, the copper tube junction the CO2 and air, the copper tube attached to manometer pressure and finally there is the fan.

Figure 3.3: Security box.

COMPRESSOR:

A compressor is a machine that transforms mechanical energy supplied to the engine, aspiring the coolant, at low pressure and low temperature. Its function is to take air from the atmosphere and compress it. There are different types of compressors which are classified according the form how compressed the gas.

Figure 3.4: Rotary vane compressor.

The figure 3.4 shows the compressor united the team in order to supply air to the column. To separate the large particles, requires a filter (figure 3.5), because it could collapse the pipe transport. This device operates mechanically in the same way they do reciprocal pumps, with the only difference in the prevention of leakage is more difficult and increasing temperature is important. The walls of the cylinder heads are provided of jackets to cool the compressor through air, water or coolant. These compressors are driven by a motor and are almost always double action. In this case the compressor incorporated, its cooling is from a fan that is present inside the box protection.

Figure 3.5: Filter particles from the air.

The main characteristics of the compressor are:

- Type: rotary vane compressor.

- Class F.

- IP: 54

- IEC: 600341:2004

- Power and the revolutions per minute at 50Hz: 0.35 kW and 2700r/min.

- Power and the revolutions per minute at 60Hz: 0.42 kW and 3200 r/min.

- High pressure: 1 bar.

- Voltage: 230V ± 10%

- Transport maximum flow: 133 l / min.

- Weight: 11.5 kg.

FAN:

A fan is a device with rotating blades used to ventilate and cool a place or an object moving through air. There are fans of different types and sizes. The fan that is in the pilot plant is a centrifugal fan. Shown in the figure below:

Figure 3.6: Fan.

The fan is located on the right side of the security box, so that provides cooling to the compressor. The properties in this fan are:

- Model: W2S130-AA03-01

- Brand: Ebmapst.

- 230 V ~

- 50/60 Hz

- 45/39 W

A fan is usually centrifugal and operates exactly the same principle that centrifugal pumps. Although the promoter of the helices may be curved in front, this may cause some instability in the pumps.

MIXING TIPS CARBON DIOXIDE AND AIR:

Figure 3.7: Mixing tips carbon dioxide and air.

Where:

1- Coating of glass wool.

2- Sampling by the manometer.

3- Carrier piper CO2.

4- Point to union.

The point of mixing the air with carbon dioxide is the union of these two parameters. Is performed in a copper pipe, as shown in figure 3.7, to make the mixture.

In the same figure one can see how initially the team was covered with glass wool in order to reduce the noise produced by the compressor and fan when in operation.
